Output state after power loss

  • Hi, can someone please point me in the right direction?

I have installed a number of Shelly Pro devices and find the same problem in each case.

For many reasons, we get power loss. What I tend to find is that the Shelly does not set the output according to the schedule, if the power loss occurs during the time that an action should be performed.

For example: If a Shelly's output is in the off state and there is a power loss. An action occures during the power loss which should put the output into an On state but doesn't because the power is out.

The power then comes back on but the Shelly does not switch the output because it doesn't check what the state SHOULD be at the time.

i.e. It does not check the last action in the schedule list to see what the current state SHOULD be.

Is there a way to set this?

    Thanks

    Matthew

  • No, the only way is to restore the last status after the power loss. But during the power failure the Shelly cannot receive this command and does not know about it. The only possibility would be to go over a higher level system and as soon as the Shelly is online again to transmit the status again - but this involves a lot of automations.

  • Thanks for the clarification.

Is there a way that this can be requested as a firmware update as it is a basic requirement when using the Shelly as a time clock/relay?

    Thanks Again

    Matthew

  • An example for a script which implements a master clock with a Shelly can be found here:

This script runs flawlessly and lets the daughter clock(s) proceed exactly with internet time. Daylight saving time will be altered automatically, power loss is corrected after restoring the mains supply and even intermittent loss of internet connection is no issue! Thanks to eiche !

  • You can write a script for this and adjust the corresponding schedule job appropriately.

Then you can do it without a central system.

The script can update a KVS entry for this and a special schedule job can, for example, call a script function every minute that compares the current time with that in the KVS entry. ...

I am confident that I can implement this.

However, this is not possible for beginners.
