I have noticed by using a multimeter that the L (as in "live wire", I assume) is connected to the ground pin the header on the Shelly1. If we use an usb serial adapter plugged to a computer to communicate with the ESP in the Shelly, isn't there a good chance that connecting the ground of the usb adapter to the Shelly1 would cause a short circuit and potentially burn the computer?
Why is L connected to the ground pin?

Right! You MUST supply your Shelly with 12V DC (e.g. with a wall power supply) if you want to flash with an USB adapter.

Are you aware of any official place where this information is provided by shelly?

Sorry - didn’t double check this cause it seemed naturally in my eyes. But others will give you an answer to this question, I’m sure…
