How to connect the 3EM to power?

  • I'm interested in getting the 3EM, but I wonder how to mount it. Attaching the clamps is not an issue of course, but connecting the phases looks to be difficult due to the different wire diameters. What is a safe way to install it? If you can share photos that'd be great.

In the manual it shows that you should use breakers, but it doesn't say which type.

(you can answer in German, I understand it fine but my grammar is terrible)

Hi and welcome to the forum. :)

Your question suggests that you are not an electrician, correct?

With the Shelly 3EM you work on 400V and that should only be done with the appropriate expertise!

    On the subject of fuses:

It is sufficient to connect the Shelly to existing fuses.

Please get someone with the necessary expertise to help you.

    Thanks.

Perhaps our connection diagrams from the encyclopedia will help you to understand it better.

But as Stefan says, 400V is not a piece of cake, the installation should be done by a professional.

  • Thank you for your concern, I'm getting help but we were looking at the documentation and thinking that the 3EM might need a separate set of breakers because we would be directly connecting it to 40A breakers and we wonder if a malfunctioning 3EM wouldn't be on fire long before the 40A trips?
