Any experience with Google Home/Nest hub wake up light feature?

Hello all!
I have an RGBW2 (gen 1 device) connected to a RGB led strip. I can manage colors through google home just fine, but when I set the device to be the wake up light for google home, it only changes the brightness, not the color of the light.

I wonder if upgrading to RGBW PM makes google home able to use the color channel as well and I'm looking at hands on experience from anyone here.
