Shelly 3EM coils used with SHelly 3EM Pro

  • Hello,

i am having problems with shelly 3em device, not sure what caused it but reading are bit slower than it used to be. having timeouts when accessing json (status) data. do not know why. it is next to the router so network should be fine.

Can i replace it with Shelly3 EM pro but use old coils from 3EM? Reason i do not have access to box. and have only the 3 cables from coils available. Any idea what will be the result?

    Thanks

  • The current transformers of the Shelly 3EM do have the same transmission ratio. But the plugs are different. You‘ll have to tinker by yourself. Or you order adapters with a PM to my address…

  • The connectors on the CTs are different. Therefore, the 3EM CTs do not fit the Pro 3EM. You will need an adapter for this. However, the CTs have also been factory-calibrated to the corresponding Shelly. You would have to perform this calibration manually when switching them out. This is basically only feasible when the unit is removed from the box and on a workbench. Alternatively, you can choose not to calibrate and will then have to live with an (unknown, but probably small) deviation.

  • plugs are not big issue. i have two shelly3em pro defective unit with working current transformers. i replaced them without the change of coils and values are basically same as before. will try to change them if i did not find any other option.

    Thank you.
