Plug not reporting power as negative despite genrating source being selcted

My Shelly Plug S V1 is not reporting power as negative despite having the correct device type selected.

Shelly PlugS (Generation 1) cannot determine the direction of power flow! Thus, negative power isn’t within the parameters of the device.

Ah, thanks. I rather stupidly thought it would be since my tow external Shelly Plug S both record flow direction.

Could you tell me which plugs would measure power positive or negative? Does it need to be gen 3?

Yes, it must be a Shelly PlugS Gen3, which has a BL0942 „Energy Meter“ Chip. Generation 1 and 2 („Plus PlugS“) are equipped with a BL0937 chip, which isn’t able to report the direction of the power flow.
