Shelly 2.5 control Motor with capacitor?

  • Hello Community,

I'd like to control this motor with a Shelly.

Is that possible and how would it have to be wired?

    Thankful for any help.

  • Welcome to the forum!

You’ll need two relays or contactors with a NC/NO contact each. The coils of the two relay are controlled by the Shelly plus 2PM. The contacts are wired according to the plan for the manual switch. Due to the fact the relays must not be activated simultaneously, you should use a script which prevents this. Author of this script is ostfriese.

  • Alternatively, you may use an electrical interlock instead of a script: You would need two relays with TWO NO/NC contacts. One contact pair at each of the relays is used to switch the motor (as described in post #2), the other NC of each relay is wired in the coil circuit of the other relay. Thus, only one coil can be activated at one time.

    Addendum:

Sorry, must amend the specs for the two relays:

Both relays have to have 2 NO contacts! If an interlock by hardware means is needed, each relay should have an additional NC contact.

A little sketch will clarify this much better:

    Legend:

SW inputs of Shelly plus 2PM are omitted. One NO contact of relay 1 is not needed.

Attention please: NC and NO contacts must NOT have a common pin, but two independent contacts!

Please pardon my scribbling - it was done with my left hand although I’m right-hander…
