Light turning on and off without relay being controlled

  • I have a light connected to a Shelly 1 Plus, which most of the time works well. But sometimes, and right now a lot, it's going berserk. The light is switching on and off "by itself". When this is happening I don't hear the relay activating. I do hear the relay activating if I trigger the light manually (via physical switch, via Shelly web interface or via HomeAssistant). It's on the latest non-beta firmware.

Also when the light is switching on/off the status on the Shelly web interface nor on the HomeAssistant changes state, which it normally does.

    What should I check?

  • Welcome to the forum!

And now to your issue: Due to the fact, you don’t hear the relay clicking but light is going on and off, I would recommend to check the wire joints between Shelly and light. Possibly there‘s a loose connection?

  • Thanks thgoebel, I'll check it out. I have my doubts though because when this happens and I manage to catch it and turn it off on the switch (HA) then the light flickers on/off rapidly once. Example:
    1. Light turns off (without relay)

    2. It stays off by up to 5 seconds
    3. I catch it before this time and turn it off via HA (even though it's not lit)
    4. I hear the relay click

    5. The light flickers on/off
