Shelly 1L without Neutral but always neutral shown on wiring shemas !

  • Hi,

I don't understand very well how the 1L is connected as in every shemas there is a link to a neutral somewhere...

here i have a lamp to be managed by a scenario coming from another Shelly connected to a switch.

this lamp has already a switch wired in the wall with only a L coming to the switch and the output going to the lamp. So, no neutral at all here in this switch.

i will not need the switch anymore.

can i do what i have drawn on this schema ?

i could also avoid the bypas by wiring the neutral before the lamp directly to the N in the 1L ?

and do i need a 1L ? because in the after schema i have both L and N close to the lamp, so a Shelly 1 would enough ?

  • Exactly! If you don’t need the switch (it must be closed to deliver „live“ potential to the lamp!) you may use a Shelly 1. Terminal N of Shelly to neutral/lamp, terminal O of Shelly to the other wire of the lamp, terminals I and L of Shelly to live wire from the switch.

It would be brilliant to draw another sketch and to present it here for a double-check!

  • haha ok, thanks for so fast answer !

but i have to say that i don't understand at all the wiring schemas presented usually !

especially maybe for the Shelly 1, i think that the internal connections should be shown, then i could understand far better why we wire L and I with the same L, and why we wire O and N like this... and then Sw which stays to be understood !

maybe i will understand one of these next days ... haha

    thanks anyway !
