Bryon 770 Doorbell Wiring

  • Hello all,

Hoping you can help. I've recently picked up a doorbell in the hope i could use it with home assistant to give me some notifications when my doorbell rings along with disabling it at night. However i've ran into some issues in that i'm not sure how to wire it up.

I've got a Bryon 770 which has 4 connections as on the above picture. Using a multimeter i establish that between 0 and 2 there is 15v AC and between 3 and 2 there is 15v AC. The instructions state that the doorbell button should be connected to 0 and 2.

So i wired up my Uni between 3 and 2 to give power and yep it powers on with no issues and i can access it etc. My next thinking was that i'd connect out 1 or 2 between 0 and 2 and when i turn it on in Shelly Uni webpage it would activate the soliend and i'd get the ding.

How wever for some reason when i do this nothing happens. I can confirm the door is still working normally with the shelly powered on so that doesn't seem to be affecting it. Has anyone got any ideas.

I'll be the first to admit that wiring like this i'm a novice at but happy to learn quickly.

  • The output of a Shelly UNI is capable to switch max. 100mA! A simple „ding dong” bell consumes more current/power when activated. And, by the way, this is the reason why AC power is breaking down in most cases whilst the bell is ringing…

  • Ahh that’s a nuisance but I thought it might be something like that.

In that case what is the best way to wire it up so I can at least know when someone is pressing the doorbell?

  • Best practice would be to use an additional relay, controlled by the output of Shelly UNI, whose contact (NO) activates the bell. And, possibly, a regulated power supply for the Shelly…

Alternatively a Shelly 1 with an extra 12V DC supply could do the same things…
