I want to replace my existing upstairs/downstairs traditional on/off change-over wall switches (3-way switch) with pulse switches, not sure about the exact terminology. The Shelly Dimmer (v1) will be placed in the central ceiling box. I want to use existing wiring.

Option A would be to wire everything basically identically but use to the pulse based change-over wall switches (3-way pulse switch).

Option B would be to use some Wagos and use basic single pole pulse based wall switches (2-way pulse switch).

    Is this correct?

What would be "best practice"? Option A or B?

Also I intend to use a Shelly dimmer for a three wall switches for a single light setup that is traditionally wired to use two 3-way switch and one 4-way switch in the middle. Option B seems to be the only way to achieve that using the existing wiring?

Any help would be appreciated :)

Thanks for your suggestions. Tried toggle switch mode, but that does not work either :(

I've configured another switch directly between [L] and [SW] inputs, but no change in either edge or toggle switch mode. FWIW: that "phantom voltage" I mentioned was now only about 4V, so definitely a red herring.

Unless anyone has other suggestions, I'll try to get the Shelly1 RMA'd.

    Hi,

I've installed a shelly1 for a (230V) light exactly as depicted here using a single physical switch: https://shelly-forum.com/index.php?atta…usschaltung-png. Updated to firmware 20190821-094851/v1.5.2@4148d2b7.

Configured shelly1 as edge switch, but it the light is not turning on/off using the physical switch. The internal web page on/off switch works fine.

I've measured (using a digital voltmeter) the AC voltage on the [SW] terminal and confirmed it receives 230V when I flip the physical switch. In the off position there is a small residual voltage of about 35V which seems to be "phantom voltage" or inductance from other nearby wires.

I've already tried a factory reset, but nothing I have tried is working. Could it be the "phantom voltage" or is there some options for me to try?
