Roller mode - calibration doesn't work and other

  • Hi,

I've seen the other posts on failures in calibration on this forum (hopefully all...) but it seems my case is different.

I have 11 Shelly 2.5 configured as rollers (and many other 2.5 and 1 as relays). All but one work perfectly! I also have the same roller motor type on all rollers (and they all ~2 years old).

On one specific roller, Shelly worked for a while and then 'lost it' (literally ;) )

    1. on the internal web site, there is a message "Тo open/close partially go to the settings and do a calibration" instead of the scroll-bar

    2. Doing a calibration process doesn't solve it

    3. Following options 1 & 2 on this post did not work

    4. I also have the following situations when operating manually from the wall's momentary switches -

    a) when clicking once up, it stops ~10 cm before fully open

    b) clicking up again goes to fully open

    c) clicking down from fully open just sounds the engine for a second but nothing moves. It takes another couple of intents to make it start moving down.

    d) it then stops the down move at ~90%. another click down makes it close to 100%.

On all movements I can see the Watts change on the web site.

I've also done a factory reset and the FW is latest.

I'll appreciate any help understanding how to fix it or if the module is defected.

  • Have you enabled Obstacle Detection or Max Power Protection in Safety Settings?

I just installed my Shelly 2.5 and after enabling Obstactle Detection I had similar results.

I just disabled it as my shutters are quite old and seem to require some force to move ;-)

  • Thanks AleXXX and sorry for late reply, I haven't received a notification about your post...

I haven't checked that part till now, but now I see that I had the "Custom Max Power Protection" set to 1840. Checking on other rollers, I see the same value.

SO I did the following, while the roller was 100% open:

    1. I changed to 2300 and saved

    2. Sent calibration command

    3. Heard the shelly 'click' but the roller didn't move and calibration failed - tried that twice

    4. I then sent a down command from the web portal an the roller moved immediately. I stopped it at ~90%

    5. Send calibration again but point 3 above happened again.

So it seems like something else...
