    New here. I know computer terminology. But I am not a networking person so easily confused with assumptions of common terms.

    I've been trying for hours to install a Mini1 Gen 3 and cannot get it to connect to home network. Hardware/system.

    Vodaphone Full Fibre Hub

    Split SSID to isolate a 2.4 MHz wifi network SSID 'SlowSpeedWiFi'

    Ths 2.4 network given an all-alphabetic password

    Lenovo mini desktop PC primary device ( but also Redmi Note 13 )

    Ethernet wire connected

    Process

    Powered up Mini 1

    AP blinks slowly as normal

    Pressed RESET button fpr 10+ seconds to make sure it was factory state


    Disconnect wired ethernet

    Set PC to 2.4 MHz 'SlowSpeedWiFi'

    Accessed SMini 1 on 192.168.33.1 on PC - Successful

    'Do you want to setup wifi..'

    Wi Fi 1 panel...

    3 tick boxes; Enable wifi, Manual SSID, Open Network [ NO indication of what these mean to a system idiot like myself. ]

    The 'Open Network' box is ticked as default

    The 2.4 Mhz wifi network is also displayed as a named connection default below tick boxes - this names the correct 2.4 Mhz SSID 'SlowSpeedWiFI'

    Below this is a tick box for Static IP - I leave this unticked.

    I select Manual SSID and remove 'Open Network ' and repeat the SSID 'SlowSpeedWiFi' and give password

    I 'Save ' and it says it is 'Successful'

    There are 2 other panels for Wi FI 2 and WiFi Roaming and I do not touch or save them.

    Result: Nothing.

    Tried switching PC back to 2.4 Mhz 'SlowSpeedWiFI' but Shelly not seen.


    Tearing hair out stage... Any help or pointer to link for detailed instructions would be appreciated. Many thanks.

    After connecting to the "SlowSpeedWiFI" - did you try to connect to the Shelly 1 Mini Gen3 Web-interface (NOT the Shelly-App)? Do you also have other Shelly-products connected to your network? I have very different options to configure in the "WiFi"-Tab of my Gen3-Devices => which firmware version are you actually on?
    It would possible be best to upload some screenshots with the settings you made.

    1. Choose SSID - in your case SlowSpeedWiFi
    2. Enter the password for this SSID / Wifi
    3. Click "Save settings"

    The Shelly will then connect to the Wi-Fi. The IP assigned by DHCP will be displayed at the top of the page.

    You can then leave the Shelly's AP and access it via the IP.

    Ver many thanks for your replies. Much appreciated. I have not had time yet to get back to problem however I believe i have done exactly as you recommended. I will re-try with a new Mini 1 as aI have several. I will screen shot as I go and get back.
