TRV battery drain

  • I have 5 TRVs which control the our boiler using the Shelly 1 relay and some simple php on my local server. All was working fine, but I guess a number of the batteries went low over the summer and I didn't notice. Recharged the TRVs, a couple of them needed a factory reset and everything back and working. I also updated to the latest firmware (2.2.1). Since this time, just one of the TRVs is rapidly draining it's battery by a few % points per day whilst all the others are still on 100%.

WiFi signal is good (running from a repeater /network extender but don't see why that would make a difference) and no different settings from the other valves etc.

Is there any specific advice or diagnostics I should run to check the problem?

    Thanks in advance....

  • I have a similar situation to the OP.

I have 5 Shelly TRVs. On four of them, the battery is draining very slowly, but the fifth one is draining much, much faster (see attached image). [ Edit - look at the right hand section of the graph only from around January 2024 - the previous battery data was for the Eurotronic TRVs that the Shellys replaced ]

The TRV in question probably moves the valve less frequently than the others too, as it is on a small radiator and tends to be 100% open more often than the others. It does probably have the weakest Wi-Fi signal in the house, though.

I was wondering if the OP had solved their issue?

    Thanks!
