Several issues with Shelly 1PM

  • Hello Community!

I have problem with one on my new Shelly 1PM modules. Symptoms:

    - no time displayed in web interface (--:--)

    - no automatic detection of time zone

    - manually configured SNTP server seems not to work

    - unable to update firmware (currently 20220916-103931/v1.12-3EM-5-g245759cf1-master-dirty) - new one is not detected

    What works:

    - it is accessible from LAN and even integrated into Home Assistant. I can control device, check power consumption, but due to lack of time stamps energy consumption is not reported.

Configuration; basically it is exactly the same configuration as I have for another 10+ devices (beside IP address, obviously). Static IP, with manually configured netmask, gateway and DNS. Works perfectly fine for all other devices.

What I already tried to resolve the problem:

    - rebooting device few times

    - reconfiguring to use different IP

    - resetting to factory settings and starting again

Additionl observation; when I changed IP address to another from the same subnet, I think message flashed for very short period of time stating something of lack of internet connection (red message bar at the top of web interface).

Lack of internet access actually would make sense, given symptoms, but I can't understand why this particilar device would be banned for acessing iinternet on my LAN. Checked everythign I could and I do not see anything that would block access (no blocking rules on router or AP), so I somehow link this issue to device itself. What might be wrong?

No updates, just status checking... Not sure what could happen, but after returning to API experimentation I noticed that one of responses showed actual time ... So I checked web interface and voila! SNTP started to work, time got updated, firmware check worked and I was even able to update FW tothe latest version! No clue what exactly happened, but issue seems to be resolved after almost a week of unseccessful troubleshooting!

  • Welcome to the forum,

did you try to use the workaround to integrate a mobile hotspot on the smartphone? In this way, it could be checked whether the Internet connection is generally working and whether the latest update can be installed

  • No, did not tried this trick, all the time working with regular wifi connection. But good to know this trick for the future - hopefully no needed :-)
