Using a shelly power monitoring relay along side a solar diverter

  • Good afternoon all!

I have a solar diverter installed which diverts any excess solar power to my hot water cylinder immersion heater. I would like to use a shelly device to measure the temperature of the tank and also monitor the power which is diverted to it. The problem I am facing is my solar diverter is a long way from my hot water cylinder so if I connect a shelly device to my immersion heater supply, the shelly device will only power up when the diverter has turned the power on. I understand this is not ideal.

I am however able to tap off of a near by socket to get a live supply to the shelly device so my question is.......Can I use a permanent live supply from a nearby socket to power the device and then connect the immersion heater to the switch output for monitoring the power consumption of the heater?

    Thanks inadvance!

  • Hi together,

for measurement i take a EM, it's developed for this. ;)

An actor is for switching developped.

  • Thanks 66er but I dont need that much current capacity :) my immersion heater pulls 13a so a 1pm will do me fine. I just wondered if the permanent live power supply can be a separate supply to the supply it is measuring which will shut off and on . Will this work with a 1pm?

    What do you think?

    Thanks

    Will

  • Some user says yes, other no.

So, you have to test it.
