Ping ok, web interface not reachable

  • Hi,

I recently have installed five Shelly plus 1 in my apartment to make light switches smart.

Since last week, one of the Shellys (the one in the bathroom) is causing issues:

    • I can ping it
    • I cannot access the web interface on TCP 80 (HTTP)

This just occured the second time in 7 days. I can only solve the issue by turning off the fuse of that part of the apartment.

All other Shellys work like a charm.

Is my Shelly defective? Can I debug and try to find the root cause somehow? Should I replace it under warranty?

    Thanks & Best,

    M.

  • Hello,

could this be solved in the meantime? It seems that I have the same issue with a Shelly Pro 2 (bought about two weeks ago). I have connected it via LAN. The loss of connection happens approx. once a day. I was lucky yesterday to see what happens. After the loss of the webinterface (or maybe short before) it seems that the formerly deactivated access point and the bluetooth connection was reactivated. This state remained after a reset. Maybe this helps?

I'm running the latest version 1.0.8, but I observed the same effect with version 1.0.3.

  • Hi,

something similar happens to my Shelly EM (GEN1, v1.12.1). I had it in service a couple of years, working with both homeassistant and the Android app. It suffered increasing disconnections in the past months. Now it became completely unavailable. I can ping its IP address most of the times, but it also often fails. However, I can never access the web interface. I removed it from the app, and disabled in HA. I also use static IP, fixed channel, and disabled WMM and IGMP from the ASUS RT-AX53U router, located less than 2 meters away,

After a reset, it works apparently fine in AP mode, but as soon as the WLAN client mode is activated the situation reverts to the same one.

    Interestingly, I can access normally a Shelly 1PM (v1.11.8).

  • Hi,

You can try to reset the shelly with http-request.

When in WiFi client mode http commands fail in the same way as loading the web interface fails. I also did a factory reset when in AP mode, but it was helpless. Meanwhile, I was able to connect it to my mobile hotspot, and upgraded the firmware to v1.14.0. Unfortunately, when connected again to the home wlan, the behavior was just the same. Since Wifi client did work in the mobile hotspot, it seems that some router setting is interfering with http.
