Shelly Plug S not pingable

  • - I am trying to add a Shelly Plug S node into my Home Assistant. That worked two weeks ago, but after a power down at my house, the device is not visible anymore.

    - In Device Info I can see the DEVICE IP of the Shelly Plug S, but why can't I ping this ip-address? Home Assistant keeps saying that the device is not reachable and that is correct, because I can't ping it from my laptop. - - Even after a reboot and a factory reset it is not reachable anymore by eh Home Assistant or by performing a ping. :(

    - It works from within the Shelly App.

Hat das Label von Shelly Plug auf Shelly Plug S geändert.
  • hello hnk1963,

    which Router do you use?

Could you see the Plug S in your device list on your Router dashboard?

Is the WebUI available? I know you can't ping it, but try a Network Scanner and take a look to the ip Adress it is shown you.

  • - It works from within the Shelly App.

then it's definetely a network issue in your local network, e.g. a firewall rule or a router which blocks communication between devices.

    >100 Shellies, darunter so gut wie alles was der Hersteller produziert hat. ;)

  • Probably got another ip allocated from DHCP. If you have access to router/dhcp server you should be able to locate it. If you did factory reset the Shelly will be in local WIFI mode - you will need to configure it from scratch again.

  • After a new update in my HomeAssistant, the Shelly Plug S is visible and it works. So, that problem has been solved. the Shelly Plug S is also accessible via the app and also from the outside world through the cloud. That is all okay. The only question is still have is why the device is not pingable? Is that because ping is using icmp and the device isn"t?
