Pull Chain Light Socket Control with Relay and Chain

  • Is there a way to wire a pull chain light socket (US) with a Shelly 1 (or any other type) that will allow the socket to be controlled by both the pull chain as well as the shelly relay. I know that the pull chain is essentially a switch but it is integrated into the light socket so I am not sure if what I am asking is possible or not. I have this all working fine where the switch is separate from the socket but with a pull chain switch not sure how this would be wired if at all. I can wire it where the Shelly will control the light by itself (not connecting to the SW terminal on the Shelly) but then the pull chain will not work when the Shelly 1 is off. Any ideas to make this work would be appreciated.

  • Hi,

    you know our connection diagrams?

If these are no help for you, please call an eletrican to to this for you.

  • Just a suggestion as I had the same problem at one point, and my solution was to use a PIR sensor instead to trigger the relay which worked perfectly, thus is no need to use the chain at all.
