NTP issues after upgrading to v1.11.4

  • Dear shelly-boys,

After upgrading to v1.11.4, weird issue with my local ntp server. All upgraded devices (approx 30) from Shelly1, 1PM, dimmer, dimmer2, 1L, 2.5, ... had a local NTP server configured with a name (ntp.my.domain) resolving to a local IP address from the same subnet and it was working fine.

After the upgrade, the time was not showing up anymore, tried another local NTP server on the same network, and it did not work either. Then tried to original local NTP server with the IP address instead of the name and......booom, working.

The devices that cannot be upgraded (4Pro, Motion) are still successfully using the same NTP server with the name and it's working like a charm.

    Anyone else facing this ?

    Cheers,

    Patrice.

  • yes, there seems to be an issue related to name resolution not working with local nameserver setup.. Devices use Google DNS (8.8.8.8) instead.
IIRC this is already reported to Allterco and I expect a fix within the next days..

    Hello Patrice,

have you the local ntp-server running at the Shelly 4Pro??? Have you blocked the internet access of these Shelly 4Pro's, or do they have still internet access? If they have still internet access then the time is still coming from the internet (time.google.com) and not from the local ntp-server.

On my Shelly 4Pro's (without internet access) the ntp setting (with IP-address) takes no effect. After reboot/power loss the there is no time shown any more. And because of this no power metering is possible, too.

    Grüße Bernd
